| Story By Mary Cunningham
The road to the North Shore is as spectacular as the North Shore itself. You'll see fields of pineapples, historical sites and beautiful lush mountainsides. About one mile past the Dole Plantation while approaching the North Shore on Kamehameha Hwy., the scenic ocean and white sand beaches jump into sight in the distance. The blue of the ocean against the green of the mountains is as picturesque as a Wyland painting.

Legend has it that Queen Liliuokalani had her choice of Oahu's beautiful shores and chose Haleiwa as her beach; with its scenic ocean and white sand beaches it is no wonder. A separate paradise itself, the North Shore beckons travelers to see all that it has to offer: history, quaint shops, beach, surf, water activities and great eateries. To capture the essence of Hawaii's North Shore, you'll want to stop at its biggest little town-Haleiwa. From Kamehameha Hwy., take one of the two North Shore/Haleiwa exits, or else you'll miss it all...
