South of Kihei is Wailea and Makena with golf courses, more shopping and restaurants, plus a stretch of ritzy hotels. You don’t have to check in to check them out. The Grand Wailea Resort Hotel and Spa is a sightseeing trip in itself—it has incredible art and action pool. |
| Beaches are less crowded the further south you go; South Kihei Road turns into Alanui Drive. Follow signs to Makena Landing and Makena Road to visit the Keawalaii Church built in 1832. |
